I finally got to see this film today at GSC MidValley Megamall. We booked the tickets about one week ago. However, when we came, we were told that the cinema that we were supposed to see the film, had been booked for "a function" and we were given seats at another cinema. The problem is though, we selected our desired seats when we made our first booking but the alternative seating offered to us was not to our expectations.
Anyways, the staff gave later offered us better seats later on and that sort of placated us. We were told that the GSC Headquarters had booked the hall for a function while the GSC MidValley people were unaware of it and had already started selling tickets for the movie at that same hall. Its hard to believe that a reputable company like GSC can't get simple things like this straight.
Oh well, after all that we still managed to see the show.
The story begins with the revelation that the transformers are not that new to the universe. They have in fact been in existence many millenia ago and they, under the leadership of the super autobots, the Dynasty of Primes, have been harvesting the energy of the suns in the universe. As a rule, they do not harvest suns that supply energy to life-bearing planets. However, a rebel Prime decided to go against this ruling, and actually planted a harvester on our planet earth. This rebel Prime, called The Fallen then tried to harvest energy from our sun but was stopped in his tracks as the Dynasty gang hid the matrix required to activate the harvester.
Back to the present day, we see Optimus Prime & the other autobots from the first film are part of a military unit comprising of autobots, the British & the American army. They help destroy the decepticons. During one battle with a group of decepticons, they receive threat that "The Fallen will rise again".
Meanwhile Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) starts his freshman year in college while his hot girlfriend, Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox) works in a "bengkel kereta dan motorsikal" and also ends up in a few very sexy poses. As Sam's parents were about to leave home, Sam discovers a sliver of the "Allspark" and as a result a a few decepticons were generated and creates a ruckus in their home. Bumblebee comes to the rescue and destroys these decepticons.
Sam then gives the Allspark sliver to Mikaela for safekeeping, however a small decepticon, Wheelie, tries to grab the sliver from Mikaela's safebox.
Want to know what happens next? Watch it yourself, then!
As a sequel, this movie did not disappoint much. The CGI and action sequences are so intense. During the autobots-decepticons fighting scenes it was difficult to distinguish the who is who in that mangly mass of metal. The plot is a bit loose but the witty lines and the hotness of Megan Fox redeemed the movie.
I can't help but to notice that the "sliver" of the Allspark is translated to Bahasa Malaysia as "perak Allspark". What the hell was the subtitler thinking? Sliver should be translated to as "serpihan" or "kepingan" or something like that, definitely NOT perak. Hey, It's SLIVER and not SILVER!!!!
Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself the entire 2.5 hours of the movie and am actually planning to see it again!
My rating: 4.9 over 5.
Message: Go see it!
Ciao!
Amir Fuad.
