Funeral: A touching video

This is a video by produced by Singapore's Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports - directed by none other than our great Malaysian film-maker, Yasmin Ahmad. The main actor in this video is Malaysian actress Jo Kukhatas.

A woman delivers a eulogy at her husband's funeral but instead of saying all the good things about the deceased, she decided to talk about his imperfections instead. The result is surprisingly very touching rather than humorous.

Watch it. You'll know what I mean.

Ciao!

where i was we used to say, "pain is good - it means you're still alive."

thanks for the vid amir. ironic, isn't it. community development. exactly what we need. done by a Malaysian. in SINGAPORE.. of course, it can't be done here, becos they wouldn't want to highlight how much inter-racial mariages/relationships happen, much less can be beautiful.

uh oh, i'm blogging in your blog. sorry.. :)

No problem man!

I forgot to mention that the Indian lady in the vid is none other than Jo Kukhatas, a Malaysian famous for her satirical roles in Instant Cafe Theatre.

I think the Malaysian public can handle inter-racial marriage/relationship issues, as most people I know have someone in their families (a sibling/parent/uncle/aunt/cousin, etc)indulging in inter-racial marriages. It's the few narrow-minded ones that makes the tolerant among us indulge in this self-censorship b.s. regarding interracial relationships.
