It's late for a new year wish but the internet has been down and even after it was up i've been rather busy.
Well, have started going to the gym full swing again. Did 30mins of cardio on the treadmill today. Came in at 6.45 and went out at 7.45 (after taking a shower and getting ready for work lah). Tomorrow my workout will concentrate on my legs, chest, back and upper arms. Maybe I will do my ab crunches in the afternoons at home to save time in the gym...hmmmm something to consider.
My 2007 new year resolution....to procrastinate even less. It has been unrealistic for my resolution to be "Not to procrastinate" so I am giving myself some leeway and hopefully do what i have been always planning to do which I have been delaying within the next 6 months.
Well. got to do some work now. Have to do the dept work roster, take a class for the exam-going master's students during lunch, finish up an MRI report which I have delayed for a few days (Procrastinator!!!!!), and handle trauma centre CT/reporting in the afternoon.
Now can play "Beauty & the beast" on the piano a little better with much less hesitation. Next project - "Lean On Me" (the Bill Withers classic). I just love that song! Must spend some time practicing this afternoon! Oh and must do the theory homework my piano teacher gave me. Jeez...I must be the only 40-year old student in that music school. I'm darn sure I am the oldest..but what the heck.
Anyway, I saw Casino Royale & Cinta. About Casino Royale- easily the Bond film I enjoyed the most. No gadgets...well, maybe one, in the form of a mini defribillator which Bond used to defibrillate himself after he got into ventricular fibrillation after he was poisoned with digitalis (I think). Cool! And Daniel Craig's physique---awesome.....If only I could have that body...sigh...! Don't like the main Bond girl though- just pick any girl from random walking down Batu Road in KL (That's Jln Tuanku Abdul Rahman to you young folks out there) and she will be at least 70% prettier.
Cinta......very good. I was pleasantly surprised. Having heard and read good reviews about it made me choose Cinta rather than Cicakman to watch. Am never one to really watch Malay movies in the cinema. I last watched Gubra on VCD and I was actually very dissapointed that it was considered a very good movie because I didn't think so. And I'm not even talking about the "rosak budaya" elements people seem to be bashing the movie about. And the choice for best actress....well nuff said.
Back to Cinta. Cinta - the script, editing, cinematography, soundtrack, acting, choice of locale, etc were so good, (save for one or two moments which I felt was a little cliched) they made the movie very enjoyable. Must admit, I un-machoedly shed a few tears during some scenes. I hope noone noticed. I especially liked the stories of the brother-sisterly love played by Que Haidar & Nanu Baharuddin plus the story of the lady divorcee laksa-shop owner (Fatimah Abu Bakar) and the old man with Alzheimer's disease(Rahim Razali). Worth mentioning is Rashidi Ishak's acting, the girl who played his daughter and Pierre Andre (his name sounds French but he looks so very Malay). It's sad that Rita Rudaini's acting seemed a little wooden - as a better performance would have made the story of the divorced couple more engaging.
My inner voice suddenly shouts, "Hey you! Stop blogging! Get back to work before the boss catches you goofing off!!!!!"
Ciao.
Amir Fuad.
